Space Vector Modulation for PWM Rectifiers

چکیده
this paper presents the concepts for application of space vector modulation to two-level unidirectional pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifiers and a methodology for the use of this modulation is proposed and applied in three different groups of rectifiers. For each group of rectifiers, the converter switching stages are analyzed to determine switch control signals for space vector modulation. One switching sequence is proposed for all rectifiers in order to minimize the number of switch commutations and reduce the switching losses. Duty cycle functions are determined and the desired switching sequences are performed by a simple PWM, without the need to determine the present sector of the vector. For this purpose, it is necessary to impose the desired current sectors from input voltage references only. In order to validate the proposed modulation techniques, simulation results are presented.

PWM techniques are becoming popular in the present day applications due to the control of amplitude and frequency in the output voltage from VSI. There are two popular approaches for the implementation of PWM Algorithms. Carrier based and Space Vector Approach. Both the approaches give the same performance, but due to simplicity, mostly carrier based approach has been preferred. A large variety...
متن کاملSpace Vector Pulse Width Modulation with Reduced Common Mode Voltage and Current Losses for Six-Phase Induction Motor Drive with Three-Level Inverter
Common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by the inverter causes motor bearing failures in multiphase drives. On the other hand, presence of undesired z-component currents in six-phase induction machine (SPIM) leads to extra current losses and have to be considered in pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. In this paper, it is shown that the presence of z-component currents and CMV in six phase driv...
